The Tunisian authorities arrested 54 illegal immigrants of sub-Saharan African nationalities after crossing the country’s borders illegally.

In a statement, the Tunisian National Guard stated that its forces in both Kasserine and Jandouba states had seized 54 people after they deliberately crossed the land border and resided illegally; adding that the authorities would take the necessary legal action.

The Tunisian authorities have arrested hundreds of illegal immigrants in security operations in recent weeks.
