Training Program on Agricultural Quarantine Measures

In cooperation with the Training Department,the Department of Agricultural Affairs organized a training program on (Agricultural Quarantine Measures) with the participation of (15) agricultural engineers from 21 to 25 August.

The program has been presented by Eng. Samir Abdullah Al-Otabi- the Plant Protection and Quarantine Section at the Department of Agricultural Affairs. It aims to raise the efficiency of the quarantine engineers? capabilities in diverse borders of the country.

The training program has dealt with a number of topics, namely:

The importance of agricultural quarantine in the protection of agricultural resources, scientific information and knowledge of agricultural quarantine and plant health, the tasks and responsibilities of the agricultural quarantine inspector, and the phytosanitary requirements of the State of Qatar for all types of plant consignments and agricultural fertilizers.

The program has also addressed: the skills and procedures of inspection of various plant consignments, types and methods of sampling of different consignments, Agricultural Quarantine Law No. 24 of 2005 and its Executive Regulations, plant quarantine pest, plants, poisonous and forbidden seeds. Such procedures shall ensure the conformity of the state of phytosanitary to the incoming consignments with the requirements of phytosanitary in the State of Qatar for the purpose of preventing the entry and spread of plant pests subject to phytosanitary regulations through plants, plant products and other materials subject to the regulations applicable in international trade.
