Three Firefighters Killed While Battling Wildfires on Colorado-Utah Border

Colorado-utah: Three firefighters were killed and two others injured while battling wildfires on the Colorado-Utah border, according to the US Wildland Fire Service. The authorities said that the firefighters were part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires, which broke out on Saturday.

According to Qatar News Agency, wildfires have intensified across the western United States, fueled by several days of hot, dry, and windy weather that have exacerbated existing blazes in Utah, Arizona, and other areas, while new fires have erupted across the region. The Cottonwood Fire, the largest blaze so far, was burning in rugged terrain in southwest Utah. It expanded on Saturday to more than 144 square miles, spreading through canyons and mountainsides and destroying part of a ski resort and several summer cabins along its path.

In recent days, meteorologists at the National Weather Service have issued warnings of a high risk of wildfires across large areas of the western United States, stretching from California to Arizona and New Mexico.
