Thinking Outside the Box – Education Above All showcases its innovative strategies that have helped more than 10M children

Education Above All (EAA) Foundation will showcase the innovative strategies that have led to increase access to education for some of the hardest to reach children around the world as it meets with other winners of the prestigious WISE Awards on Monday December 5. EAA will present how new approaches to thinking is helping them reach millions of learners through strategies like their innovative financing, openly sourced tracking of attacks on education, as well as a bank of internet-free learning resources for those disadvantaged by the digital divide.

The discussion entitled ‘Innovate to Reshape Global Education Systems’ will centre around ways former recipients of the WISE Award – as well as leading education experts – can exchange experiences. The event will include a lively panel discussion, which will delve deeper into where, how and why winning projects have succeeded. It will also look at how the risks of change can be mitigated or prevented.

Among the attendees will be staff from Education Above All (EAA), winners of 2022 WISE award for Internet Free Education Resource Bank (IFERB) and representatives from Qatar University’s Young Scientist Centre who won the award in 2015.

Speakers will include Janhvi Kanoria (Education Above All) Dr. Noora Jabor Al Thani (Qatar University Young Scientist Centre) and Aurelio Amaral and Niamh Whelan from WISE.

Monday’s event is part of Education Above All’s Scoring 4 the Goals campaign which runs alongside the World Cup tournament. The campaign, which features a pavilion for visitors in the heart of the FIFA Fan Festival, aims to raise awareness of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and calls for global action to achieve them together.

For those who cannot attend in person, a video of the event will be posted online here following the event at 7pm Doha time.

As well as the panel discussion, Education Above All is excited to offer three human interest stories from teachers who are using the IFERB programme and students who are benefitting. Multimedia packs tell stories about students and teachers from rural areas of the Indian state of Punjab and includes broll, interviews, stills, translations and background information to create bespoke content.

Stories with video, photos, and dope sheets can be found, here and include profiles of:

Physical Education teacher Sandeep Kaur shows how students, especially girls are benefitting from using Education Above All and the Bharti Foundation IFERB programme.

Science teacher Amanpreet Singh uses football to teach children about biology and math in the classroom through the ‘Football for Thought’ initiative.

Maths teacher Manpreet Kaur Punia uses some of the 100 downloadable games to teach children in the classroom about technical drawing and calculations.

Education Above All is happy to offer up further materials upon requests including live interviews and additional photos and video.
