The Emir of Qatar sponsors the opening of the Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, sponsored the opening ceremony of the Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition, under the slogan ‘Green Desert, Better Environment,’ this evening at the exhibition site in Al Bidda Park in Doha, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed, Prime Minister of the Republic of Yemen, and Dr. Edward Ngirente, Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the national anthem was played, then a short film entitled ‘Green Qatar’ was shown.

Then, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech on t
his occasion in which he said that the State of Qatar’s hosting of the Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition is consistent with its commitments to sustainable development nationally and internationally, pointing out that it constitutes a qualitative addition to various initiatives adopted by Qatar to ensure A safer and more stable future for all the peoples of the Earth.

He noted that these initiatives come under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, within the framework of achieving a balance between the development needs of the State of Qatar and the protection of its natural resources on land, sea and air, in order to achieve its national vision for the year 2030, one of whose pillars is the development of a comprehensive environmental vision that sets Its top priority is preserving the environment for future generations.

He said that at a time when humanity is afflicted with many unfortunate disasters and calamities resulting from our lack of respect for our planet and the irresponsible depletion of nature, we look forward during this world exhibition to serious initiatives and partnerships that restore hope to us and future generations in a world full of the safe life that we seek for all its inhabitants without discrimination or preference.

The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed the call for more innovative, environmentally friendly solutions and innovations in all aspects of life that take a realistic approach concerned with comprehensive economic development and environmental protection, while at the same time ensuring fair energy security for all. He also called for ‘intensifying international cooperation to achieve a balanced and respectful environmental world.’ ‘Hu
man respect for his fellow man and sustainable human respect for the environment and nature.’

At the end of his speech, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani expressed his thanks to all the countries and friends who joined the exhibition, hoping that its work would result in partnerships and projects that would benefit future generations.

Dimitri Kirkentziser, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions, and Leonardo Capitaño, President of the International Association of Horticultural Producers, also spoke on this occasion.
