Irbid: The Social Security Corporation (SSC), in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, organized an awareness workshop on the "Sustainability ++" program on Sunday at the chamber's premises. Mohammad Shouha, head of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the chamber's role in fostering public-private sector partnerships through seminars, lectures, and specialized workshops across all commercial sectors. These initiatives aim to facilitate communication between traders and relevant authorities, introducing key legislation and laws related to commercial establishments and guiding their implementation. Khaled Qudah, Director of the SCC's Irbid branch, highlighted that the program, implemented under the ILO's supervision, aims to support the transition of workers to the formal economy. It seeks to expand guarantee coverage in a smooth and flexible manner for up to 12 months, allowing workers to benefit from insurance and direct protection. He stresse d that the program does not impose a financial burden on the target groups or financial obligations on establishments or employers. Qudah further noted that the SSC provides a comprehensive social protection system for all, adhering to international best practices and national integrity standards to deliver maximum value to clients and partners sustainably. Hanadi Gharaibeh, an ILO representative, outlined the organization's primary goals of promoting social justice, human rights, and decent work in accordance with international labor standards. She explained that the ILO collaborates with governments, employers, and workers to promote decent work and formulate labor standards and policies. Mervat Rajoub, Head of the Occupational Injuries Department, detailed the "Sustainability ++" program, which supports worker subscriptions in establishments employing ten workers or less. She noted the incentives provided, including 100 Jordanian dinars every three months, along with insurance benefits guaranteed by the Social Security Law. Rajoub specified that to benefit from the program, a worker's wage subject to deduction should not exceed 500 Jordanian dinars, and they should not have been employed by the beneficiary establishment before June 1, 2022. Workers must not have previously benefited from the "Sustainability" program or any related programs, such as the Hafez program or the National Employment Program. Establishments can register a maximum of ten workers for this program by logging into the establishment's account on the "Electronic Services" portal and selecting the "Sustainability ++" service. Bilal Abu Zureiq, Head of the Inspection Department, discussed social security services including work injury insurance, old age, disability and death insurance, maternity insurance, and recent amendments. He also explained the mechanisms for calculating early and old-age retirement. The workshop included a discussion on the importance of health insurance and the benefits for unemployed heirs from the retirement s alary in the event of the death of the father (the breadwinner).
