Katara:Al Markhiya Gallery is set to inaugurate "Silent Witnesses," an exhibition by Palestinian artist Majdulin Nasrallah, at its venue in Katara Art Center, Building 5, on Tuesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition delves into the transformations that everyday objects undergo in contexts of violence, displacement, and loss. Nasrallah's artworks feature items such as blankets, cups, shoes, and doors, examining how these objects transition from mundane elements to carriers of significant memories and meanings.
The exhibition highlights how these objects become silent witnesses to grief, resilience, and violence amid war and displacement, portraying a life altered by these forces. It questions the coexistence of tenderness and terror and whether objects can retain memories even when those memories become fractured.
Nasrallah's work is inspired by the interplay between people, objects, and places, focusing on the relationships between the intimate and the public, and memory and place. The artist, born in 1996, is based in Qatar and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, with exhibitions held globally.
