Sheikh Joaan Crowns Dutchman Verstappen F1 Qatar Grand Prix 2023 Champion

HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned Dutchman Max Verstappen champion of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, the 17th round of the 2023 Formula One World Championship, hosted by Qatar at the Lusail International Circuit.

HE Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, HE Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, and Qatar Tourism Chairman Akbar Al Baker, and Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation President Abdul Rahman Al Mannai participated in the crowning ceremony.

Verstappen, Red Bull driver, got his third world title in the Sprint race on Saturday evening, after covering the 306.66-kilometre race in 1:27:39:168 hours.

The Dutch driver was 4.833 seconds ahead of Australian McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, who secured the second place, whilst British McLaren driver Lando Norris came in third place, 5.969 seconds behind the lead.

British Mercedes driver George Russell and Monacan Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc completed the list of t
op five positions, respectively, 34.119 seconds and 38.976 seconds behind the lead.
