The Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding organized several meetings and cultural events in the Republic of Bulgaria as part of the Award’s media team tour to learn about the reality of translation between the Bulgarian and Arabic languages on the occasion of choosing the Bulgarian language among the five languages of the Achievement category of the 9th season of the Award, and the tour included a visit to Rhizoma publishing house.

The Media Advisor for the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding Dr. Hanan Al Fayyad spoke about the idea behind the Award, its goals, and purposes, stressing the importance of choosing the Bulgarian language among the Award languages for this season in enriching the knowledge and cultural exchange between the Bulgarian and Arabic languages.

She reviewed the Award’s philosophy, introduced its terms and standards, and its moral and financial values for translators as well as research and academic institutions, calling to visit the Award’s website to learn about its details. She also reviewed the historical role of translation among civilizations and the importance of translation in activating human dialogue in times of conflict and tension.

She said that the award aims to encourage translators and spread peace, tolerance, and love in the world as it takes a different approach from its counterparts regarding its philosophy of diversity in languages and not focusing on one language.
