Hong kong: A recent scientific study revealed that consuming very small amounts of sugar during the first two years of life may be linked to a lower risk of developing dementia later in life, indicating that people who underwent sugar rationing in their early childhood were 23% less likely to develop dementia. According to Qatar News Agency, the study, conducted by researchers from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), analyzed data from approximately 65,000 people in the UK Biobank project to examine the relationship between early-life sugar consumption and brain health in later life. "Our findings suggest that limiting sugar during the earliest stages of life may have lasting benefits for brain health," said a member of the study team, researcher Jiazhen Zheng, explaining that "further research is needed" to understand the relationship between sugar consumption and dementia. Experts affirmed that the study provides important insights into the impact of early nutrition on future heal th. However, it does not definitively prove that reducing sugar directly protects against dementia, stressing the importance of following a healthy and balanced diet to support brain health.
