Saudi Arabia sent FIFA an official letter of intent to host World Cup 2034, Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) announced on Monday.

SAFF President Yasser Al Misehal said in a statement that the move comes as the second step in Riyadh’s journey towards staging the world’s paramount sports event.

Saudi Arabia is currently focusing on presenting an integrated bid that shows the countrys capacities to organize this tournament and welcome football fans from all over the world, Al Mishal added.

Saudi Arabia’s announcement of its intention to bid for the 2034 World Cup has been backed by over 70 soccer federations worldwide.
