Doha: Saudi Arabia condemned Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, calling it a violation of international law and relevant international resolutions.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement Tuesday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the move contravenes UN resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared Israel's imposition of its laws and administration over the Golan null and void.
The Ministry stressed that such actions undermine peace efforts and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's position that the Golan is occupied Syrian Arab territory.
It urged Colombia to reconsider its position and comply with international law and UN resolutions.
