Russian Scientists Invent Neurological Compensation System for Post-Stroke Recovery

Russian scientists invented unique neurological compensation devices to heal after a stroke.

According to clinical studies, the invention is also effective after spinal cord injuries and for rehabilitating children with cerebral palsy.

The device stimulates the structures of the spinal cord by operating a specially designed electrode matrix.

According to the Russian Ministry of Health, clinical trials of the neurological compensation system showed significant progress in walking quality in patients after a stroke.

Scientists said that the system regulates not only motor functions but also other cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary and reproductive functions, and such a complex effect makes it possible to rehabilitate patients even in serious cases.

More than 80 percent of patients still have a long-term effect after using the device, which means that patients’ quality of life after stroke improves significantly, the scientists added, noting that neurological compensation on the spine is adapted to recover children with cerebral palsy.
