QU Health at Qatar University (QU) organized a welcoming meeting to welcome the preceptors in clinical education who joined the various colleges of QU Health and to provide them with an overview of QU Health, requirements, outputs and academic programs. The program also included a tour of the campus facilities to introduce them to the services provided and ways to benefit from them.

On this occasion, Prof. Asmaa Al-Thani, Vice President for Health and Medical Sciences, welcomed the enrollment of nearly 35 academics into QU Health clinical education program and said, “This day is one example of the cooperation between QU Health and Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Cooperation, Sidra Medicine and other health care institutions in Qatar.”

Prof. Al-Thani also focused on the role of clinical preceptor’s in clinical education, noting their importance in developing the skills and understanding of students in different health and medical professions. She said, “What is presented during the training is based on their evidence-based experiences in order to ensure a high level of competence for graduates of the QU Health colleges in line with international standards. Through this structured training, we seek to graduate competent health professionals who will work in a health care team from various health professions in line with global development in the field of medical education and training.”

Dr. Abdullah Yousef, Assistant Director of the Medical Education Department from Hamad Medical Corporation said, “One of the most important benefits of this induction day is the opportunity to socialize and establish a foundation for a beneficial professional network between all stakeholders in this academic community. It enables faculty to understand more about the various colleges in QU Health, their roles, and ways of working in this academic environment. In other words, engaging in such a well-established induction program can facilitate the transition process for the new clinical preceptor, giving them the time, support and opportunity to establish relationships they need to succeed and innovate.”

It is worth noting that this initiative is an opportunity to capitalize on the valuable experiences in the health field in the country and enhances collaboration between the country’s institutions in its various sectors.
