Doha:Students from 12 girls' primary schools across the nation participated in the inaugural Sports for All Athletics Championship. This event was organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) under the Ministry of Sports and Youth and took place at Maymouna Bint Al Harith Primary School for Girls.
According to Qatar News Agency, the championship aimed to increase sports participation among schoolchildren, promote physical activity, and foster competition and sportsmanship values. The event included various track and field contests, with participation from schools such as Al Thumama, Al Huda, Al Khwarizmi, and others.
QSFA Executive Director Abdullah Al Dosari noted the broad participation in the inaugural event, highlighting the public's keen interest in school sports. He emphasized the significance of providing more opportunities for girls to engage in sports and develop their skills from an early age.
Al Dosari also pointed out that the championship is part of the ongoing collaboration between QSFA and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. This partnership is dedicated to integrating sports into school campuses, aligning with educational initiatives to target students of different grade levels and age groups.
He further explained that school programs extend beyond mere exercise. These initiatives aim to introduce students to the importance of physical activity, encourage them to pursue sports aligned with their interests, and identify promising talents at an early stage for further development.
Al Dosari concluded by stating that ongoing programs and school visits serve to strengthen direct engagement with students, offering them opportunities to practice sports on campus and promoting sports as a lifestyle.
