QRCS Signs Joint Cooperation Agreement with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar


Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) signed on Sunday a joint cooperation agreement with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, with the objective of providing support for a range of humanitarian and educational initiatives and programs.



The intention of both parties is to establish a non-exclusive partnership and collaboration in the areas of scientific research, strategic studies, scholarships, as well as the exchange of computer science professionals, public policy experts, business administrators, information systems specialists, and biological scientists. Additionally, this collaboration will encompass training workshops, national capacity enhancement, specialized scientific conferences, and societal development.



The agreement stipulates coordination and involvement in providing the necessary assistance for the implementation of QRCS programs and projects, and several educational programs and strategic research programs will be offered by CMU-Q.



The agreement was by QRCS Acting Secretary-General Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi and Dean of CMU-Q Dr. Michael Trick.



Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi expressed his pleasure with the new collaboration that will enhance relations between the two entities in the domains of education, humanitarian endeavors, and volunteerism. In addition, this partnership will benefit the Qatari community and strengthen humanitarian and educational cooperation.



He pointed out that this agreement exemplifies the dedication of the QRCS to the promotion of education and its significance in tandem with humanitarian endeavors to foster human development. It is an extension of the array of alliances that the organization is actively documenting to realize its humanitarian objectives.



He added that the collaboration will pave the way for novel opportunities in attaining sustainable development and empower both sides to fortify collective endeavors in supporting humanitarian matters and advancing education and scientific research. This partnership is poised to make a substantial contribution towards the achievement of our ambitious goals, the progress of development, and the betterment of Qatari society, all aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030.



For his part, Dr. Michael Trick valued the leading role of QRCS in relief efforts for those in need, adding that the collaboration will create opportunities to better understand humanitarian issues, and find ways to provide relief and assistance.
