QNL Holds Seminar on Post-World Cup Era as Cultural Salon Kicks off

The activities of the Cultural Salon, organized by Qatar National Library in cooperation with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), kicked off Monday evening with a seminar entitled ‘we and the world after the World Cup’ with the participation of HE Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, President of Hamad Bin Khalifa University Dr. Ahmad Mojahed Omar Hasna, and a group of academics and intellectuals. The speakers were HBKU’s professor of political science Dr. Ibrahim Arafat and former director of beIN Sports channels Ayman Jada. It was moderated by HE President of the Qatar Press Center Saad Mohammed Al Rumaihi. HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the seminar that the cultural salon, which will be held monthly, will be a qualitative addition to the cultural movement in Qatar in various cultural institutions as part of QNL’s efforts to raise awareness with various state institutions to revitalize cultural life. His Excellency noted that the salon dealt with this topic as a result of the successes achieved by the World Cup in Qatar at all levels. His Excellency revealed that the library will document the events of the World Cup scientifically and professionally so that this legacy is available to researchers, as the national library is distinguished by its ability to document, and it has the equipment and work team to accomplish the task of documentation accurately and professionally. His Excellency highlighted the communication between the QNL and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) to work on this project, and the best companies will be selected to complete the task of documenting the World Cup events. Dr. Hasna highlighted the QNL-HBKU cooperation to launch the cultural salon, which comes to enhance the QNL’s leading role in spreading culture, indicating that the topic of the seminar affirms the importance of this historical event of the World Cup hosting. HE Al Rumaihi said that Qatar was able to win the honor of organizing the World Cup, as it provided a civilized model in preparation, organization and management for Qatar to present the most wonderful and beautiful edition based on Qatar’s history in hosting international tournaments before the World Cup. Dr. Arafat confirmed that the legacy of the World Cup in Qatar is still rich and benefits researchers in various fields, pointing out that this period is the period of evaluation, not only at the academic level but also at the political level, alluding to the changes and relationships that emerged after the World Cup.
