QNL Holds Seminar on Post-World Cup Era as Cultural Salon Kicks off -1-

Dr. Ibrahim Arafat stressed that there are a set of conclusions that can be drawn from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and these are that the tournament was not just a sporting event but rather a political, cultural and economic one, in addition to being a smart employment of soft power, such as making Arab traditional garments go vogue amongst international audiences, in a global manifestation of pride. Arafat indicated that a symposium will be organized next week, in which foreign authors and experts at HBKU, will speak on the impact of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on the West. For his part, journalist Ayman Jada said that football become part of the culture and is confirmed as humanity’s largest unanimously loved human activity, transcending from being a game to becoming a contemporary human activity around which many revolve. Jada added that Qatar succeeded in organizing the World Cup, with the tournament breaking many records, remarking Qatar’s hosting of numerous international tournaments, confirming the power of intent and implementation, resulting in a legacy supported by all indicators. A number of attendees expressed during the Cultural Salon the importance of documenting the legacy of the World Cup, ways to benefit from this success, ways to optimally make use of World Cup stadiums, and achieving sustainability, in addition to discussing how the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 enhanced the presence of women in Qatar athletically.
