QNB Stars League: Al Sadd, Al Duhail Coaches Affirm Readiness for Sunday Match

Al Duhail coach Hernan Crespo underlined importance of gaining the three points against Al Sadd on Sunday in Week 10 of the QNB Stars League.

Speaking to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League postponed match from Week 10 against Al Sadd, Crespo said, “The Al Duhail vs Al Sadd matches are known for their difficulty and importance. It will be a difficult match for the two teams because of the players they have at good levels and we will play in order to achieve a positive result to widen the points difference between us and the clubs that are chasing us in the lead race.

“The team is ready for this match and we will try to show how strong we are, and you cannot expect the result related to what the players will present on the field, but we have to maintain the offensive part and implement our philosophy in order to achieve victory and continue to lead the league.

“I respect Al Sadd players and all players of other clubs, but my thinking and focus are all towards my players because I know that the team includes a group of players with great levels,” said Crespo.

Meanwhile, Al Sadd coach Juan Manuel Lillo ‘Juanma’ said, “Considering that it is a big match, it is logical that it will be very difficult.

“Given the strength of Al Duhail and also because they are at the top of the league, maybe we can win twice against Al Duhail and yet we may not win the title, and this is the case in football, you never know what will happen.

“It may also happen that we lose the match and still maintain our hopes of winning the title, if we lose it will be very difficult, but it remains difficult even if we win.

“Regarding the recent victory over Al Markhiya in the Amir Cup, I would say that the Amir Cup championship is very important to us and winning the Al Markhiya match is not a measure more than the other matches that you win. But the continuation of victories gives us motivation to provide the best in the upcoming matches,” said Juanma.
