Geneva, Switzerland

His Excellency Mr. Khalifa Al-Kuwari, Director General of Qatar Fund for Development announces at the High-Level Financing Conference organized by Education Cannot Wait (ECW) – the United Nations global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crisis, a commitment of 20 million USD Dollars toward jointly agreed-upon projects with the Education Above All Foundation’s (EAA) Educate A Child Programme, to support the efforts of ECW.

This pledge aims to help children around the world who are denied their right to accessing education due to crises, including war, disasters, and displacement. Over four years, ECW will deliver its 2023-2026 Strategic Plan that targets helping to deliver the needs of the 222 million children and adolescents left behind in crises.

“Education is a driving force to advance humanity. It serves as the foundation of human and economic development and is key for achieving an equitable, just, and peaceful future for all,” HE Mr. Khalifa Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD.

“Only by working together can we ensure that we enroll all children into education, especially children in vulnerable communities and those that are hardest to reach, and this is why we are looking forward to working in partnership with ECW and QFFD,” said Mr. Fahad Al Sulaiti, CEO of Education Above All

HE Mr. AL-Kuwairi reinforces in his speech the importance of immediate collective action for all world leaders to help turn 222 million dreams into reality.

These joint efforts of QFFD, EAA, ECW, and other contributors will increase opportunities for many more out of school children to access a quality primary education, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
