Doha: Al-Raya newspaper has spotlighted Qatar's ongoing progress in establishing itself as a premier tourism destination, an effort that significantly bolsters the national economy.
According to Qatar News Agency, recent indicators suggest that the tourism sector is poised for increased activity in the latter half of the year, fueled by seasonal events, promotional offers, and diverse options catering to citizens, residents, and international visitors. Al-Raya emphasized the comprehensive attractions Qatar offers, such as beaches, museums, heritage markets, and cultural events, all complemented by robust security measures, efficient transportation, and high-quality services.
Al-Raya further stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum through the development of new tourism products, fostering innovation, and expanding private sector partnerships. The newspaper advocated for enhanced external marketing to attract new markets, increase the duration of visitors' stays, and maximize future economic and social returns. It concluded by stating that the success of Qatari tourism is now the result of long-term planning and investments in people, places, and services rather than relying on single events or seasons. Continuation of these ambitious policies is expected to bolster the sector's contribution to the national economy, create business and employment opportunities, and present a tourism model blending authenticity and modernity to the world.
In a similar vein, The Peninsula newspaper praised Qatar's institutions and the tourism sector for developing innovative indoor and evening programs that provide residents and visitors with meaningful experiences throughout the season. Highlighting Qatar's summer calendar, The Peninsula noted the wide array of activities available, including family entertainment, cultural experiences, shopping festivals, hospitality offers, and indoor attractions. These summer initiatives encourage families to explore the diverse experiences across the country, creating opportunities for families to build memories, children to develop skills, and visitors to experience Qatar's unique mix of tradition and modernity.
On a different note, Al-Arab newspaper focused on the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and its strategic plan to enhance Qatar's infrastructure services and public buildings amid population growth and urban expansion. Al-Arab reported on Ashghal's implementation of the third phase of the Flood Prevention program, aimed at developing infrastructure and strengthening stormwater drainage networks in northern Doha. This initiative seeks to provide sustainable solutions to reduce stormwater accumulation, enhancing readiness for the rainy season in areas such as Al Gharafa, Onaiza, and Al Tarfa, among others.
The project includes constructing 50 kilometers of stormwater drainage networks across 51 rainwater collection sites. Al-Arab concluded by highlighting Ashghal's critical role since its inception in planning and executing projects that impact citizens and residents, contributing to Qatar's urban development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
