Hanoi:Qatar's Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs and Qatar Charity have entered into a cooperation agreement designed to bolster collaboration in endowments, zakat, and humanitarian development endeavors.
According to Qatar News Agency, the five-year agreement, which can be renewed with mutual consent, was formalized by Awqaf's Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Khalid Al Ghanem and CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef Al Kuwari.
The partnership aims to create a national model for institutional cooperation, combining the organizations' efforts to enhance the sustainable social and development impact of their projects both within Qatar and internationally.
The agreement involves coordination of humanitarian and development activities to prevent duplication, joint efforts in zakat collection, and social and Sharia research. Additionally, it includes plans to study the establishment of a joint fund to support projects in compliance with Sharia requirements for zakat funds.
Furthermore, the partnership will extend cooperation on international endowment projects, such as building mosques, drilling wells, establishing educational endowments, sponsoring orphans and families in need, and conducting emergency relief efforts.
The agreement outlines governance mechanisms and the appointment of coordinators from both organizations to oversee its implementation, with regular reporting to evaluate results and performance.
