MANAMA — The Qatari tennis team secured its place in the Asian Group IV of the Davis Cup on Saturday, following a comprehensive win against Mongolia in the fifth group qualifiers.
According to a new release by Qatar News Agency, the competition spanned over six days and saw the participation of 13 Asian teams. The Qatari team claimed victory in three straight matches. In the first singles match, Mashari Nawaf overcame Mongolian player Munkh Baatar with scores of 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. The second match was won by Mubarak Shannan, who defeated Mongolian Oyunbat Baatar with scores of 6-2, 6-2. Finally, in the doubles match, the Qatari duo of Issa Shannan and Rashid Nawaf ensured the team’s victory by beating the Mongolian pair of Sono Mpuntsag and Undrakk with scores of 6-1, 6-3.
