Qatari Newspapers Highlight Diplomatic Efforts and Educational Advancements

Doha:Qatari newspapers have focused on significant diplomatic and educational developments in their recent editorials. Key among these are discussions held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman and HM King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. These discussions emphasized diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions, enhancing security and stability, and protecting maritime corridors and freedom of navigation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers affirmed Qatar's commitment to diplomacy as a means to address the US-Iran crisis. They highlighted Qatar's strategic efforts to transition the region from recurring crisis management to a more stable security environment, fostering opportunities for prosperity rather than conflict.

Furthermore, the newspapers reported on Amiri Decision No. 36 of 2026, which established Tamim bin Hamad University for Military and Technology Sciences, and Amiri Decision No. 37 of 2026, which appointed its Board of Trustees. These decisions reflect Qatar's vision of creating an educational system attuned to advances in defense, security, and technology.

Al-Raya newspaper underscored the significance of the Amir's communications with Saudi and Dutch leaders, which highlight the need for diplomatic discussions to prevent escalating tensions and ensure maritime security. Additionally, it emphasized Qatar's dedication to mediation and dialogue in resolving the US-Iran crisis, advocating for a sustainable solution based on non-aggression and respect for sovereignty.

Al-Raya also called for a regional security framework to protect countries from future escalations, emphasizing that lasting security arises from negotiation rather than conflict.

Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the global shift from military power to the importance of science and technology. The establishment of Tamim bin Hamad University signifies a strategic direction toward integrating education with national defense and security needs, addressing challenges in cybersecurity and advanced technologies.

The newspaper noted that the diverse composition of the university's Board of Trustees, which includes leaders in defense, security, and education, underscores the integration of national expertise and the alignment of education with state needs. The creation of this university is seen as a platform to develop Qatari talent and strengthen national capabilities in science and technology.
