Doha: Qatari newspapers addressed a number of topics in their Thursday editorials, foremost was the Cabinet's praise for the participation HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, France. The newspapers also highlighted Qatar's leading position in the Global Peace Index for the Middle East and North Africa region, along with its ongoing efforts to support all endeavors aimed at enhancing regional security and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted the Cabinet's praise during its meeting on Wednesday for the participation of HH the Amir at the G7 summit. They emphasized that this participation came in recognition of His Highness prominent role in supporting peace and development efforts in the region and the world and advocating for the causes of people, and in appreciation of the status of the State of Qatar and its constructive efforts to promote security and stability at the regional and international levels.
The newspaper also praised the meeting HH the Amir held with HE President of the United States of America Donald Trump on the sidelines of the summit. The Cabinet said the meeting reflected the depth of strategic ties between the State of Qatar and the United States and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in support of global peace and security.
The prominent role played by His Highness and the efforts of Qatari diplomacy, which supported the Pakistani mediation, contributed in reaching this advanced stage in the US-Iran understanding, in line with the country's firm positions and its established principles of pursuing dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful means as a way to resolve differences and settle disputes, Al-Watan underlined.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Watan pointed out that the Cabinet reiterated the State of Qatar's welcome of a recent agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important step towards ending conflict, safeguarding freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and supporting regional and international stability.
Meanwhile, Al-Raya newspaper confirmed that Qatar leading position in the Global Peace Index for the Middle East and North Africa region for more than a year reflects the success of the country's security strategy, which has made it a leading model regionally and globally.
The newspaper said that Qatar considers security work to be proactive work that focuses on combating the causes of crime and everything that drives it, as well as using the latest scientific and behavioral methods to protect societies from these scourges and harnessing technology to improve security work.
Al-Raya noted the confirmation by HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani that the State of Qatar leading position in the Global Peace Index is a clear indication of the success of the state approach in consolidating security and stability, and enhancing the quality of life for everyone living on the homeland, despite the circumstances and challenges that the state and the region have gone through in the recent period.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Raya said this achievement represents a global testament of Qatar's efficiency of security institutions and their ability to keep pace with changes by adopting the latest technologies and digital solutions, and developing an integrated work system based on prevention, proactivity and partnership with various state institutions. It noted that in light of the challenges witnessed by many regions of the world, Qatar presents a successful model that proves that sustainable development and social peace are two sides of the same coin.
