Qatari Newspapers Editorials -2-

English-language newspaper The Peninsula said that the State of Qatar has always worked to promote dialogue, negotiations and diplomatic solutions to disputes and conflicts around the world, as the States foreign policy is based on the belief of global peace and sustainable development.

Under the headline “Promoting dialogue for peace”, the newspaper said that based on this belief, Qatar has been an active partner of the United Nations to promote peace and development around the world. It has also actively worked to mediate between opposing sides to ease and defuse conflicts and tensions, particularly in the Middle East, North Africa and Afghanistan.

Qatars most recent achievement in this regard is the successful mediation to conclude a prisoner swap deal between Iran and the United States, the paper said, noting that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Tuesday received a phone call from US President Joe Biden, who thanked HH the Amir for Qatars role to reach the deal and release of Americans
held in Iran.

The paper underlined that Qatar has also voiced its support for the UN efforts for a lasting and agreed-upon political solution to the issue of Moroccan Sahara, within the framework of the political process supervised by the UN, and in a way that guarantees Moroccos sovereignty.

As HH the Amir said in his recent address to the UN General Assembly, “The path to resolve conflicts through peaceful means is a long and strenuous path, but it is less costly than wars, and our commitment to continue our efforts in facilitating and making peace is a firm commitment deeply rooted in the core of our foreign policy,” The Peninsula concluded.

At the local level, Al-Arab daily shed light on World Teachers’ Day, which falls on Oct. 5 every year. Several teachers are set to be honored for their significant contributions to the field of education.

Under the headline “Loyalty to Teachers,” the newspaper considered this annual celebration as appreciation by the State of Qatar of the teaching profession and th
e role of teachers in nurturing and educating generations. It also a loyalty to the value of teachers’ efforts and hard work, and a recognition for their missions, the paper added.

The newspaper pointed out that this occasion provides an excellent opportunity to express gratitude towards teachers, conduct a comprehensive assessment of the education journey in the country, and draw attention to teachers who represent the core of efforts to achieve global educational goals. It also highlighted the many resources and advantages provided by the State that have made the teaching profession the best among similar professions, recognizing the significance of the role it plays in building generations and advancing the nation.

y the Ministry of Education to all teaching staff.
