Qatari Editorials Highlight Winter Camping, GCC Resilience, and Sudan Crisis

Doha:Qatari newspapers have published editorials focusing on key local and regional issues, including the start of the winter camping season, the resilience of GCC economies, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Arab newspaper emphasized the significance of the winter camping season in Qatar, which combines cultural heritage with outdoor activities. The editorial noted that this season draws many families who enjoy both land and sea environments. It also presents an opportunity to promote sustainable ecotourism with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, which is working to enhance camping services and simplify registration for citizens.

The newspaper underscored the importance of adhering to safety regulations and environmental protection measures to prevent accidents and preserve natural resources. It concluded by stressing the necessity of following Civil Defence, traffic, and environmental guidelines to ensure a successful camping season and maintain ecological balance.

On Gulf affairs, Al Sharq newspaper discussed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries' effective crisis management and economic resilience. The editorial highlighted the strategic policies and economic diversification programs that have strengthened the GCC economies. It referenced the recent GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee meeting in Manama, which addressed economic and geopolitical challenges affecting the region, including energy production and logistics disruptions.

The newspaper concluded by noting the International Monetary Fund's commendation of the GCC's economic measures and growth maintenance despite global uncertainties.

Al Watan newspaper drew attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, citing the International Organization for Migration's report on the displacement of over 308,000 people from the Kordofan states over more than 10 months. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has led to severe humanitarian suffering.

The editorial called for international intervention to protect civilians and address their urgent needs, emphasizing the complexity and severity of the crisis, marked by widespread displacement, service collapse, and famine.
