London: Qatar’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, emphasized the enthusiasm of the Qatari community in the UK to fulfill their national duty by voting in the upcoming referendum on proposed amendments to Qatar’s Permanent Constitution. The Ambassador highlighted the significance of these amendments in reinforcing Qatar’s national identity and its political framework based on the Shura concept, as well as its Arab and Islamic affiliations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ambassador remarked that these constitutional proposals aim to solidify the Qatari social fabric and the nation’s ongoing commitment to upholding justice and law in international relations. He pointed out that Qatari students, along with other community members in the UK, are particularly eager to participate in the referendum, driven by their strong national sentiment. The voting process will be facilitated through the “Metrash 2” application.

In addressing the role of Qatari student and c
ommunity institutions in encouraging voter participation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani stated that the embassy maintains regular communication with these groups, including student councils in the UK. The embassy provides them with updates on national developments such as the constitutional referendum, underscoring the community’s enthusiasm to partake in the voting process to promote the principles of law, justice, and equality.
