Doha: The recent signing of strategic agreements between Qatar's Es'hailSat and Turkiye's national satellite operator Turksat, along with a manufacturing contract with France's Thales Alenia Space, signifies a pivotal moment in the development of Qatar's space sector. The agreements were sealed in the presence of His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, highlighting Qatar's commitment to advancing its capabilities in space and satellite communications.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq newspaper emphasized that the agreements mark a historic turning point for Es'hailSat, reflecting the ambitions of national companies to maintain their leadership in the space sector. The collaboration is built on a robust foundation of cooperation between Qatar and Turkiye, aimed at deepening their strategic partnership and reinforcing their presence in the space communications field.
Al-Arab newspaper lauded the achievements of Es'hailSat since its inception in 2010, noting its pivotal role in elevating Qatar's status in the satellite communications arena through the successful launch of Es'hail-1 and Es'hail-2. The new agreements with Turksat and Thales Alenia Space for the development of the Es'hail-3/Turksat-Biruni satellite represent the largest investment in Es'hailSat's expansion strategy, further consolidating Qatar-Turkiye relations.
