Qatar Supports Pakistani Mediation, to Attend Geneva Signing Ceremony

Doha: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, confirmed that Qatar will be represented at the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, scheduled for Friday in Geneva, Switzerland. This event will include participation from regional stakeholders and Pakistani mediators.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Ansari emphasized Qatar's involvement in supporting the mediation efforts led by Pakistan during the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' weekly media briefing. He stated that Qatar, along with other countries, was engaged in efforts to resolve the crisis, which has had far-reaching impacts on the region.

Dr. Al Ansari elaborated on Qatar's role in facilitating communication to ensure the success of the process and the restoration of regional peace and security. He expressed cautious optimism that the memorandum's signing would lead to negotiations addressing regional stability, focusing on the nuclear file and security issues.

The spokesperson highlighted the importance of continued dialogue for achieving stability and emphasized that peace requires a sustainable political process. He also pointed out the significance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz for global energy supplies and reducing market burdens.

Dr. Al Ansari expressed hope that the agreement would lead to sustainable peace and noted that the process involved a mix of virtual and direct meetings. He confirmed that the details of the memorandum would become clear after the official signing.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, Dr. Al Ansari confirmed Qatar's ongoing mediation efforts to end the conflict, supporting US President Donald Trump's plan. Positive understandings were reached in recent Egypt meetings, with continued efforts toward full agreement implementation.

Dr. Al Ansari also addressed related regional issues, including the Lebanese file, denouncing Israeli attacks on Lebanon and highlighting the necessity of regional security. He stressed that continued communication with international partners is crucial for achieving broader ceasefires.
