Manama: The State of Qatar participated in the 29th meeting of ministers responsible for municipal affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's delegation was led by HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation, joint coordination, and the exchange of expertise among GCC countries in municipal affairs. These discussions aimed to develop municipal services and improve the quality of life across the Council's member states.
During the event, Qatar's Ministry of Municipality was honored as part of the GCC Municipal Work Award. The Ministry secured two out of five winning positions for its initiatives, which included "Best Practices in Sustainable Urban Landscaping" by the Ministry's Public Parks Department and "Al Wakrah Sustainable Community Park" by Al Wakrah Municipality.
This recognition underscores Qatar's commitment to advancing municipal systems and sustainability, as well as its dedication to improving urban development and community services.
