Qatar Racing Limited’s MANGOUSTINE remains unbeaten winning Gr3 Prix Miesque

Owned in partnership by ex-NBA star Tony Parker (Infinity Nine Horses), along with Ecurie Des Monceaux, Qatar Racing Limited and Alexandre Giannotti, the two-year-old filly MANGOUSTINE (Dark Angel x Zotilla) put up a scintillating performance to win the Prix Miesque (Group 3) at Chantilly on Tuesday, October 26th.

Mangoustine now remains unbeaten in three starts and has cemented her position amongst the best fillies of her generation. That success provided Mangoustine’s trainer Frederic Rossi with a fourth career success in the Prix Miesque. The filly was given an extremely confident ride by jockey Maxime Guyon, who partnered her for the first time.

Bouncing out of the stalls, Mangoustine was sent straight to the lead for the 1,400m contest. Setting a strong gallop from the start, Mangoustine travelled powerfully and held a length advantage over her nearest pursuing rivals, Txope (Siyouni) and Anterselva (Fast Company). Turning for home, Mangoustine had her seven rivals under pressure and travelled best into the straight. Stretching on at the 300m pole, she extended her lead. ANTERSELVA began to fade inside the final 200m, while Txope, Who Knows (Siyouni) and Keshana (Iffraaj) all attempted to chase the leader. Mangoustine proved too classy for her rivals and galloped to a cosy one and a quarter length success over the game Txope, while former Group 3 winner Who Knows finished a further length back in third.

“There was no pressure at all today really (laughs), apart from that we have always said she is a Group 1 filly – so she had to win today!”, said the winning trainer Frederic Rossi after the race, “Max is a great jockey, it wasn’t the plan to ride her like that but when you are confident and have the horse to do it, you can adapt to any situation. You can see by her frame that she should be even better as a three-year-old, but 1,600m may just be stretching her. We have gone step by step with her and she can enjoy the winter now. She will come back for the Imprudence and if that goes well, then it’s onto the Poule.”

Bred by Ecurie Des Monceaux, Lordship Stud and Qatar Bloodstock Limited, Mangoustine is by Yeomanstown Stud stallion Dark Angel (Acclamation). Her dam, Zotilla (Zamindar) raced once at three. The second dam Louvain (Sinndar) was a Group Three winner in the US and has produced dual Group One winner Flotilla (Mizzen Mast) and unbeaten Listed winner Big Five (Frankel).
