Doha: Since the outbreak of the war on Gaza, Qatar has consistently demonstrated its pivotal role in establishing stability in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper emphasized that Qatar’s efforts are not aimed at political gain but at fostering long-term peace. The country is actively working to solidify the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian factions, amidst complex geopolitical challenges and mounting international pressure.
Qatar is operating on various fronts, engaging in political, humanitarian, and diplomatic efforts. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is collaborating with the United States and Egypt to ensure adherence to the ceasefire terms agreed upon in Sharm El Sheikh while addressing obstacles that threaten its sustainability. Simultaneously, Qatar is providing critical humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents, emphasizing that lasting peace requires addressing urgent humanitarian needs.
Al-Raya further highlighted Qatar’s dedication to dialogue and mediation, steering clear of confrontation. This approach has earned Qatar the trust of all parties involved, reinforcing its position as an impartial mediator. Qatar’s transparent coordination with the United Nations and international partners has added credibility to its initiatives. Meanwhile, The Peninsula reported on the renewed violence in Gaza, noting that intensive Israeli bombardment has resulted in over 100 Palestinian casualties, jeopardizing the fragile ceasefire. The editorial pointed out that the ceasefire initially offered hope to Gaza, but the resurgence of violence has destabilized this precarious peace. It stressed the need for addressing the deeper issues of occupation, displacement, and the denial of fundamental rights to achieve lasting peace.
On the domestic front, Al-Watan emphasized Qatar’s focus on empowering youth through education and training, which are central to the state’s strategic priorities. Qatar’s advanced rankings in the Global Youth Development Index are attributed to its efforts in youth development and empowerment, both locally and globally. The newspaper noted Qatar’s initiatives to combat youth unemployment and promote economic inclusion through partnerships, such as the agreement between Qatar Fund for Development and other international foundations.
