Qatar Participates in UN High-Level Meeting on Road Safety

The State of Qatar, represented by the National Traffic Safety Committee, participated in the UN High-Level Meeting on Road Safety under the theme (The 2030 horizon for road safety: securing a decade of action and delivery), which was held in New York on June 30-July1, 2022.

Brig. Eng. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Maliki, Secretary of the Committee headed the Qatari delegation that included Brig. Muhammad Al Shahwani, Director of the General Directorate of Traffic, Dr. Muhammad bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of the Public Health Department at the MoPH, and Eng. Yousef Al Emadi, Director of Projects Affairs at Ashghal.

More than 130 countries from around the world participated in the meeting, represented by high-level delegations. The meeting’s agenda included a number of topics, including the adoption of the “Political declaration of the high-level meeting on improving global road safety”, discussion of road safety contained in the United Nations 2030 Agenda, conducting dialogue among relevant stakeholders to achieve more effective results and achievements, sharing and benefiting from experiences in addressing the remaining gaps in the process of implementing the Decade of Action for Road Safety.

Brig. Mohamed Al-Maliki, head of the delegation, delivered his words at the meeting on the state of traffic safety in the State of Qatar, reviewing the country’s experience in improving road safety and the great attention that providing to this matter and its experience in the road safety management.
