The State of Qatar, represented by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, participated in the third meeting of the Middle East Aviation Security and Faciliation Group, which was held in the Sultanate of Oman from 16 to 18 January 2023. This comes with the aim to develop a regional structure to enhance cooperation and coordination among the countries of the region, and to implement action programmes to reduce aviation security risks in the Middle East, in line with the global plans of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and air transport facilities.

During the meeting, the State of Qatar presented its experience in implementing the electronic travel system ‘Hayya’ card during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which greatly contributed to facilitating entry procedures for those entering the State of Qatar, in addition to the advantages of obtaining entry permits for multiple countries to holders of this card within a period of up to 60 days, making the ‘Hayya’ card a successful model to follow in the region.
