Tunis:The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, part of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), has honored Qatar National Library (QNL) for its significant contributions to preserving and providing access to manuscript heritage. This recognition was part of the Arab Manuscript Day celebrations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ceremony took place in Tunis and was attended by QNL Executive Director Tan Huism and Director of Research and Learning Services Abeer Al Kuwari. During the event, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing joint cooperation, exchanging expertise, and preserving Arab documentary heritage.

Tan Huism emphasized the importance of manuscripts as vital historical records that maintain the collective memory and intellectual contributions of the Arab and Islamic worlds. He affirmed QNL's dedication to expanding global access to these resources.

Abeer Al Kuwari described QNL's comprehensive preservation strategy, which includes ethical acquisition, cataloging, and digitization. She also highlighted QNL's role as the IFLA Regional Center for Preservation and Conservation in the Arab region and Middle East, where it contributes to building regional capacity and supporting scientific research.
