Qatar Media Corporation Launches Initiative to Promote Responsible Digital Content

Doha:Qatar Media Corporation has introduced a new initiative called Nahj, aimed at promoting responsible digital content and reinforcing national identity and values across social media platforms.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Nahj initiative is being conducted in partnership with Qatar University, various government ministries, educational institutions, and other relevant organizations. This three-month program targets digital content creators, school and university students, and the wider public through seminars, workshops, meetings with content creators, and media activities on digital platforms.

During the launch, a panel of specialists discussed the responsibilities of digital content creators, emphasizing the need for greater awareness when using social media. The discussions covered topics such as distinguishing between positive and harmful content, protecting privacy, and encouraging greater self-regulation among creators and users.

Mohammed Al Marri, the initiative's supervisor, stated that the program reflects Qatar Media Corporation's societal responsibility and aims to support content that strengthens national identity while promoting informed and responsible digital platform use. He noted the importance of maintaining guiding values despite changes in digital platforms, highlighting the impact digital content can have on individuals and society.

The program also seeks to provide content creators with the necessary knowledge and skills to adapt to the evolving digital landscape while producing content that aligns with Qatar's social values and cultural identity. Al Marri further explained that Nahj would raise awareness about digital risks and help users discern between positive and negative content.

The launch event, hosted by Qatar University, underscored the role of academic institutions in supporting knowledge-based initiatives benefiting the broader community. The Qatar Media Corporation's digital media office will produce media materials and videos throughout the initiative, with updates shared via the corporation's social media accounts.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Harmi, a Qatari educational consultant, spoke at the panel about the responsibility of managing digital content and the necessity of verifying it as a religious and societal obligation. He warned about the consequences of lacking intellectual protection for the current generation and urged society and families to protect the younger generation in an unregulated digital world.

Additionally, Dr. Talib Al Athba from Qatar University stressed the importance of social media influencers acting responsibly, given their wide-reaching content. He stated that influencers should have a clear message and vision, rather than just maintaining a digital presence.

Dr. Aisha Al Kuwari, CEO of Rosa Publishing House, emphasized the importance of maintaining a sound approach, upholding values, national identity, and pride in the Arabic language. She viewed these as interconnected elements for creating content that reflects society while preserving its unique character. She noted that the initiative's success depends on collaborative efforts.

Fidaa Al Din Yahya, an ambassador for the initiative, highlighted the ease of sharing content on digital platforms, which has become a means for achieving fame. He discussed the impact of financial gain and audience influence on an influencer's psyche, indicating that it can alter content creators' personalities and how they interact with their environment.
