Qatar Hosts 15th Meeting of International Civil Aviation Group

Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), recently hosted the fifteenth meeting of the MIDANPIRG Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Sub-Group (CNS SG/15) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The event also included the fifth meeting of the Frequency Management Working Group (FM WG/5), with participation from 12 countries across the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings covered a range of topics crucial to air navigation, including satellite navigation and the challenges posed by signal jamming and falsification. These issues were discussed in the context of their impact on aviation safety and security.

Participants also examined the challenges associated with the frequency band allocated for aviation, seeking ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of air operations. Key areas of focus included reconnaissance and the exchange of radar data. The discussions aimed to develop and update regional plans to boost aviation safety and security, while also supporting reconnaissance capabilities and regional coordination among the participating countries.
