Qatar Condemns Colombia’s Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty over Golan Heights

Doha: The State of Qatar has denounced the government of the Republic of Colombia for its decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. Qatar emphasized that aiding the occupation in overlooking relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, does not change the reality that the Golan Heights remains occupied Arab territory. The imposition of Israeli laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the Golan is considered null and void and holds no legal effect.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued on Tuesday, reaffirmed Qatar's steadfast stance that the Golan Heights is occupied Arab land. The Ministry underscored the necessity for Israel to adhere to international law and withdraw from all occupied Arab territories, including the Golan Heights.

The Ministry further cautioned that any unilateral decisions acknowledging Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights would pose a significant barrier to achieving peace in the region.
