Doha: The Police Ramadan Football Championship, organized by the Qatar Police Sports Federation, will commence Sunday. This year's tournament marks the 13th edition for officers and the 17th for other ranks. According to Qatar News Agency, the championship will run until March 19 at the World Cup Training Fields, featuring 13 teams in the officers' category and 32 teams in the other ranks' category. These teams represent various departments of the Ministry of Interior and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), following the draw ceremony. The tournament's competitions will begin with the qualifying matches for the teams of the other ranks. Airport Security will face the General Warehouses team, while the Fazaa team will meet Public Transport Security. The Civil Defense team will play against the Police Officers' Institute, and the Coastal and Border Security team will face the Correctional and Rehabilitation team. In other matches, NCC will compete against the Economic and Cyber Crimes Fighting team, the Execution of Judgments team will face the Al Rayyan Security team, and the Communications and IT team will meet the Public Security team. Additional matches include the Protection team versus the Human Resources team, Establishments and Authorities Security team against Al Shamal Security team, Police Institute team against the Criminal Investigation team, and the General Directorate of Passports team against the Industrial Security team. Moreover, the Assistant Undersecretaries Office team will compete against the Preventive Security team, the Community Police team against the Evidence and Information team, the Financial Affairs team versus the Anti-Drug team, and the Maritime Ports team will meet the Search and Follow-up team. The first day's competitions will conclude with the Lekhwiya team facing the Abu Samra Border team.
