Amman: The Palestinian people and their leadership, the Palestine Liberation Organization, their sole and legitimate representative, have the sole right to determine the fate of the people and land of Palestine, Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rdeineh said. "There is no legitimacy for anyone over the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, or Jerusalem, neither the occupation (authority) nor anyone else, and no legitimacy for any step taken on Palestinian land that is not accepted by our people and its leadership, and no one, but themselves," he said in a statement Saturday. Rdeineh was commenting on leaked news that Washington is discussing plans on the future of the Gaza Strip with some parties, which, he stressed, will not have any legitimacy and will not be accepted by the Palestinian people. The priority now is to stop the Israeli aggression and the massacres against the Palestinian people, and not talk about the day after the war, he stressed. Commenting on remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Rdeineh said the occupation of the Gaza Strip is illegitimate and illegal, as is the case in the West Bank, and that the State of Palestine has jurisdiction over the entire Palestinian territory in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The occupation will go, and the Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, under international legitimacy, is the only avenue to achieving security and stability in the entire region, he added.
