Palestine Appeals to UN Over Israeli Actions in Hebron

Hebron:New York The State of Palestine has sent three identical letters to key United Nations leaders, highlighting the intensifying Israeli actions against Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, especially in Hebron Governorate.

According to Qatar News Agency, these letters were addressed to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the UN General Assembly, and Greece, which holds the presidency of the UN Security Council this month. Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the UN, expressed concerns over the severe military measures imposed by Israeli authorities on Hebron Governorate since last Friday, affecting nearly half a million Palestinians with collective punishment.

The letters detailed various actions by Israeli authorities, including forced evictions, home demolitions, mass arrests, and the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque. Mansour noted that 488 families, totaling 3,171 people, have been evicted from their homes, primarily in the areas of Deir Bahha and Al-Jalda. Additionally, approximately 500 houses have been destroyed, and mass detentions continue across the region.

Mansour accused Israel of exploiting the situation for electoral gains, exacerbating violence and ethnic cleansing in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem. He called for international intervention, urging measures such as an arms embargo against Israel to halt the escalating military operations and ensure the protection of Palestinian rights and properties.

The Palestinian representative emphasized that these actions violate international humanitarian law and multiple UN resolutions, calling for accountability and deterrent measures to protect the Palestinian people and their sacred sites.
