Over 130% surge in international flights at Oman’s airports

International flights at the Sultanate of Oman’s Airports have increased by 137.6 percent, to reach more than 51,000 flights until October 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.

The Indian nationality topped the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through Muscat International Airport with more than 122,000 until the end of October 2022.

Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated an increase in the number of international and domestic flights arriving and departing through the various airports of the Sultanate of Oman until the end of October 2022. The number of international flights arriving and departing from the airports of Muscat, Salalah and Sohar, amounting to 51, 017 international flights, recorded a remarkable growth of 137.6 percent compared to 21,466 flights in the same period in 2021.

The number of arrivals through airports increased significantly by 153 percent, as the total number of arriving, departing, and “transit” passengers at the airports of Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm reached 7, 807,908 passengers until the end of October 2022. The number of departures through airports increased by 115 percent compared to the period Same from 2021.

The statistics showed that the number of (international and domestic) flights arriving and departing through Muscat International Airport increased by 111.6 percent, to reach 54,165 flights until the end of October 2022 which carried 6,744,565 passengers, compared to 25,592 flights in 2021, which carried 2,784,037 passengers.
