Cairo: The Arab League has called for ending the suffering of the Palestinian refugee expatriates whose exile from their homeland has been prolonged and live with the hope of returning to their homeland, in addition to safeguarding their inalienable rights to self-determination and the right to return to their homeland from which they were displaced and ensure they get reparations in accordance with international legitimacy's resolutions. According to Qatar News Agency, to mark the Arab Expatriate's Day, which annually falls on December 4, the General Secretariat of the Arab League rejected, in a statement, what is known as the redefinition of the Palestinian refugee and their legal status, or the measures leading to the liquidation of UNRWA, and most recently the Israeli Knesset's decision to ban the agency's operations. The Arab League underlined the importance of supporting UNRWA to ensure it can consistently carry out its mandate and assume its full responsibilities toward the Palestinian refugees. It n oted that a plethora of warnings had been issued about the catastrophic consequences on the region and the world if the conflict metastasizes, which could force overwhelming numbers of migrants and refugees to migrate irregularly seeking a better life and safe places. Additionally, the Arab League highlighted the positive role played by Arab expatriates in the diaspora, emphasizing that Arab communities in the diaspora play an instrumental role in enhancing social, cultural, and economic ties between their nations and countries of the diaspora. Their contributions span various fields such as economy, investment, education, scientific research, culture, arts, sports, and humanitarian work. Furthermore, Arab expatriates play an important role in espousing the Palestinian cause through political pressure, media awareness, and financial support, along with their stances that reject the Israeli assaults on Gaza and Lebanon. They also impact the Arab American voices in the recent US presidential elections.
