Oman’s Sultan and Egypt’s President Discuss Regional Tensions and US-Iran Talks

Muscat: Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi have discussed regional developments and efforts to ease tensions surrounding the ongoing US-Iran dispute during talks in Muscat.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Sisi, who is currently visiting Oman, met the Omani leader on Thursday to review political, economic, and security challenges affecting the region, as reported by state media. The two sides also exchanged views on ways to reach what was described as a final agreement in the US-Iran crisis through dialogue, mutual understanding, and diplomatic channels.

The discussions come amid renewed regional and international focus on efforts to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran. A day earlier, Sultan Haitham and President Sisi held a telephone call in which they stressed the importance of intensifying political and diplomatic efforts to support US-Iran negotiations and help de-escalate the crisis.

Oman has long played a mediating role in regional diplomacy and has previously facilitated indirect talks between the United States and Iran.
