Omanis Utilize “Intakhib” App in Shura Council’s 10th Term Elections

MUSCAT — Omani voters took to their smartphones on Sunday to elect representatives for the 10th term of the Shura Council, using the “Intakhib” electronic app.

According to a new release by Qatar News Agency, a total of 843 candidates, including 32 women, are in the running to fill the Shura Council’s 90-member assembly. The voting process will conclude at 7:00 pm today.

The election for the 10th term of the Shura Council has 75,690 registered voters, of whom 13,843 have already cast their ballots from abroad. This election is particularly notable for the launch of the second version of the “Intekhab” application, which introduces several new features and enhancements.

The ministry has provided more than 12 electronic election services via the app, including a discussion forum, preliminary and final lists of candidates and voters, and functionalities to check voter registration in the electoral register. The app also monitors automatic sorting indicators on election day and offers statistical data on voter turnout in each governorate, along with age and gender demographics of the electorate.
