The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah to discuss developments in Sudan, at the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the current Chair of the Islamic Summit, and the OIC Executive Committee.
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha underlined on Monday that the emergency meeting reflects the interest of member states in the current events in Sudan and their keenness to restore security and stability in the country.
Taha renewed his appeal for a permanent ceasefire in Sudan, resorting to dialogue to preserve the security and safety of the Sudanese people and state and its capabilities and the resumption of the political process.
