Doha: The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) confirmed that nowhere is safe for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip nine months after the ceasefire had been announced.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Israeli military has intensified its attacks in Gaza in recent days, resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties, including children, women, and men. The OHCHR reported that these attacks have targeted residential buildings, a tent sheltering internally displaced people, and other crowded areas.

OHCHR spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan stated that the Office has verified the deaths of 685 Palestinians from October 2025 to mid-April 2026, including 283 women and children, primarily due to Israeli attacks across the Gaza strip. He noted that the verification process is ongoing.

From July 13 to 20, the OHCHR recorded at least 57 Palestinian fatalities, including six children and eight women, with 34 of these deaths occurring far from the Israeli-imposed 'yellow line'. The OHCHR expressed concerns over the potential violations of international humanitarian law and possible war crimes associated with these attacks.

The OHCHR highlighted the dire situation for Palestinians in Gaza, who remain confined to an ever-shrinking area. The Israeli military's actions, including firing on Palestinians near the 'yellow line', are viewed as violations of international human rights and humanitarian laws.

Al-Kheetan emphasized the ongoing violations and the severe impact on the Palestinians in Gaza. The death toll from the conflict since October 7, 2023, has reached 73,293, with 173,906 wounded. The Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire by launching attacks on various areas in the Strip.
