Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammad Al Ansari emphasized that the State of Qatar is closely monitoring the dangerous escalation and developments occurring in the occupied Palestinian territories. He also said that the State of Qatar called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and escalation, leading to a ceasefire involving all parties as soon as possible. It also urged the protection of civilians from the consequences of the ongoing conflict.

Dr. Al Ansari, during the weekly media briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointed out that the State of Qatar initiated communications from the very first day and continues to engage at the highest levels with various officials in the region and around the world, with the aim of coordinating regional and international efforts in light of these developments, and consider the possibility of regional and international interventions aimed at de-escalating the situation.

He added that the State of Q
atar communicated the priorities it sees during these talks, the most notable of which was to stop the fighting, end the bloodshed, release the prisoners, and ensure that this conflict is contained so that it does not extend and turn into a broader regional conflict. He warned that expanding the conflict may have serious consequences for the region in general. He also stressed the need to protect civilians and spare them the consequences of these confrontations.

Dr. Al Ansari reaffirmed Qatar’s steadfast stance on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace is a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue within the framework of the Arab initiative, and ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He emphasized that the absence of a Palestinian solution would perpetuate the absence of peace in the region and called on the international community to press for the development
of this solution, ensuring that the Palestinian brothers obtain their rights definitively.

He noted that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani communicated with the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Turkey, The Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States, the Kingdom of Spain, the French Republic, and the United Kingdom to discuss solutions to this crisis, coordinate efforts, exchange views, and enhance points of agreement to end the bloodshed.

Regarding the State of Qatars role in mediation in this crisis, Dr. Al Ansari pointed out that Qatar had previously played roles to reduce the escalation between Hamas and the occupation forces, relying on its ability to communicate quickly, continuously and directly between the various parties, but this crisis differs from its predecessors, as it is not merely an escalation. Rather, it
is a comprehensive war, and it is too early to talk about direct mediation, given the complexity of the situation on the ground, and that coordination is continuing with the various states to stop the bloodshed and prevent the crisis from deteriorating further than it already has.

Dr. Al Ansari reviewed the activities of the Ministry and its officials during the past week, highlighting the meeting of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, with HE Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Dr. Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez, the fourth round of the political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the meeting of HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi with the Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his participation in the 27th session of the joint ministerial council between the Gulf Cooperat
ion Council and the European Union in the Omani capital Muscat, and his holding of several meetings with a number of ministers and senior officials in Kuwait, the General Secretariat of the GCC, Spain, the European Union, Latvia and Lithuania.

He added that HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi will tour Latin America during the period from Oct. 16 to 24, which includes holding a group of political consultations in Bolivia, Colombia, and Brazil. These visits come as a continuation of the previous visits of Qatari officials there.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reviewed the statement issued by the State of Qatar regarding the devastating earthquake that struck Afghanistan, as well as the statement in which the State of Qatar condemned the terrorist attack in Niger, which targeted a group of military personnel there.
