GAZA CITY: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that six recent attempts to deliver essential aid to the besieged areas of North Gaza have been obstructed by Israeli authorities. These attempts, made over the past two days, aimed at providing crucial food and water supplies to the residents in Jabalya, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya. According to Qatar News Agency, Tuesday's missions were specifically targeted at delivering food and water to Jabalya, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya, while Wednesday's efforts were directed towards Beit Lahiya and Jabalya, with plans to offer protection and psychosocial support for children in Jabalya. UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric confirmed that the six delivery attempts were blocked by Israeli authorities, underscoring the organization's commitment to aiding those affected by ongoing conflict. The UN has also submitted four further requests to Israeli authorities for access on Thursday. OCHA has raised alarms over the increasing vulnerability of displaced individuals as essential resources dwindle. As of Tuesday, a significant majority, 79%, of the Gaza Strip remains under active evacuation orders, with Palestinians being directed to Al Mawasi in southern Gaza, an area lacking in basic infrastructure and services. Efforts to enhance humanitarian response efforts in southern and central Gaza are being severely hampered by ongoing hostilities and security concerns. Across the region, the availability of dairy products and eggs is nearly non-existent, and the scarcity of fruits and vegetables has led to exorbitant prices, with many basic items seeing price hikes of over 1,000% compared to pre-conflict levels. The ongoing conflict, now in its second year, continues to result in escalating violence and humanitarian suffering, particularly in the realm of living conditions. A dire shortage of fuel and food persists as part of what is described as a starvation campaign against the residents of the region.
